Beneath the scorching August sun near a Bonita Springs pond, trapper Dave Regel prepared to lure his prey. This particular animal had outsmarted him three times before, but Regel was confident his method would draw out the 7-foot reptile. He opened a cooler, letting escape a rancid smell.
